Diane Overton – 2023 Reflection

We blinked, and the year had passed us by before we knew it. This year, my husband and I accomplished many things and crossed items off of our bucket lists. In May of this year, I graduated from Arizona State University with my BA in Forensic Psychology (Go Sun Devils!). I worked extremely hard and graduated with double honors! One set of honors was for graduating magna cum laude, and the other set of honors represented being a member of the Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society. My family traveled to Arizona with us to watch me graduate, as it was quite the achievement.

Work hard, play hard. We rewarded my hard work by first having a Las Vegas style graduation party with my family, followed by our big vacation. We then went to Hawaii, visiting the Island of Oahu for our first time. We explored the island, the beaches, the Dole Plantation and experienced our first Luau. From there we headed to South Korea, where we traveled the whole country by train from Seoul to Busan. We enjoyed putting what little Korean I know to use, while eating all of the street foods and watching street performances. I crossed off my biggest bucket list item by taking a class at one of the best dance studios in Seoul.

You can still find me dancing my nights away at local dance studios. Now that I’ve graduated, I’ve put a lot of that extra energy into perfecting my dance abilities. We made many trips back and forth to Minnesota and California this year to be with family. I even helped my brother build the new addition to his house. Last year’s green thumb didn’t last very long. If anyone has any good desert gardening tips, I’d love to chat about it!

Have Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
